SAME PROGRAM, NEW NAME
The Town has renamed Arlington Community Choice Aggregation (Arlington CCA) as Arlington Community Electricity (ACE)! You will continue to receive electricity based on your previously chosen product. No action needed.
Arlington Community Electricity is a municipal aggregation (or Community Electricity Aggregation) program operated by the Town of Arlington. With Arlington Community Electricity, Eversource continues to deliver your electricity and manage all electricity billing. The only change is the source and cost of electricity supply, chosen by the Town of Arlington through a competitive bidding process.
Arlington Community Electricity has a standard product, called Arlington Local Green, which has more renewable energy than required by state law. Participants in the program are enrolled in Arlington Local Green unless they affirmatively choose one of our other optional products. Learn more about the program options, including how to switch your choice.
Arlington Community Electricity pricing will remain fixed from December 2019 – November 2022. Products described as Green contain renewable electricity above that required by state law. The additional renewable electricity qualifies for MA Class I designation and comes only from solar, wind, anaerobic digestion and low-impact hydro located within New England. Local refers to New England.
Eversource Basic Service Rates
11.882 ¢/kWh for Residential January – June 2021
11.173 ¢/kWh for Commercial January – June 2021
11.423 ¢/kWh for Industrial January – March 2021
Future savings cannot be guaranteed because Basic Service rates change every six months for Residential and Commercial customers and every three months for industrial customers.
Goals of Arlington Community Electricity
Arlington Community Electricity seeks to procure electricity supply contracts when the market is favorable. Combined with the bulk buying power of thousands of households and businesses in the program, ACE aims to produce savings for customers compared to Eversource’s Basic Service rates, however, future savings cannot be guaranteed because Basic Service rates change every six months for Residential and Commercial customers and every three months for industrial.
Arlington Community Electricity secures multi-year, fixed price contracts. In contrast, Eversource Basic Service rates change every six months for Residential and Small Commercial customers, and every three months for Large Business customers.2
Local Renewable Energy
Arlington Community Electricity’s standard product includes 11% more local renewable energy than required by the State. This means you can have cleaner electricity and you can help to support the growth of renewable energy in our region. If you choose, ACE also offers products that have 50% or 100% renewable energy. Learn more about our renewable energy options.
Participants in Arlington Community Electricity may leave the program at any time without penalty.
How to Participate in Arlington Community Electricity
If you are not already participating in Arlington Community Electricity, you can enroll in any of the available products at any time by filling out the sign up form. New electricity accounts opened in Arlington will receive a mailer that triggers automatic enrollment in the program, however it may take a few billing cycles or more to take effect. To speed up that enrollment, you can fill out the form.
If you already have a competitive electricity supplier (that is not Eversource Basic Service), then you may join Arlington Community Electricity when your existing contract ends. If you are thinking about terminating your existing competitive electricity supply contract, before you make a decision, be sure to find out if there are penalties or fees for early termination.
